The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – June 10, 2015

We can’t believe it’s June already…So much has happened this year and it doesn’t appear that things will be slowing down any time soon. But no worries – Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in to all the craft beer news that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you absolutely don’t want to miss that.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – June 10, 2015ACB TO BONNAROO (Manchester, TN) – American Craft Beer views the craft beer biz as an entertainment industry, (not unlike music) and we cover it that way. Over the last decade, the cross-pollination between the music festivals and the craft beer movement has grown significantly, and that’s why we’re sending Juliana Casale, our Boston Correspondent and Festival Goddess, to Bonnaroo this year. She’ll be dishing on rock stars and serious beer all weekend and you can follow her exploits at ACB Twitter.

STARR HILL TO TRAVEL TO THE EMERLD ISLE (Crozet, VA) – Starr Hill will soon be crossing the Atlantic to collaborate with Ireland’s largest craft brewer, Carlow Brewing Company/O’Hara’s Brewery. This transatlantic connection was inspired in part by the award-winning Irish Stout brands they both craft. On tap for this collaboration, however, is a Session Red IPA to be released in Ireland on July 4th in celebration of American and Irish independence. Brewers from Carlow/O’Hara’s will also be travelling to Virginia next year to produce a US-based collaboration that will be released on Patrick’s Day.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – June 10, 2015BREW’S UP! (San Diego, CA) – For the first time since 2011, the American Homebrewers Association National Homebrewers Conference returns to San Diego for three days (June 11th-13th) of homebrewing talk and competition. The 37th annual conference is also home to the final round of judging in this year’s National Homebrew Competition, the world’s largest beer competition, which recognizes amateur brewers worldwide. An estimated 4,000 attendees will hear from over 70 presenters, including keynote speaker Tomme Arthur of California-based Port Brewing Company and The Lost Abbey, who is widely regarded as one of the leaders of the American craft brewing renaissance.

SNOOP DOGG SUES PABST (Los Angeles, CA) – We didn’t think beer was his drug of choice.  Snoop Dogg is suing beer-maker Pabst Brewing, claiming that the organization owes him money from the sale of the company last year.  According to the BBC “the rapper is seeking 10% of the net sales paid to Pabst for its Colt 45 malt beer line in the sale.”

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – June 10, 2015WHAT WE’VE BEEN DRINKING LATELY (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all the breweries who ship us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and helps to give us a better feel for what’s happening out there. Last night we ended our day celebrating with something we just received from the Flying Dog crew. Counter Culture Ale is the brewery’s newest year-round – a 6% ABV malt-forward ale and a welcome alternative to all the hop-centric brews out there nowadays.
