THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND PICKS

Hey it’s the Weekend… and if you’re like us, you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time.  Plus we’ve another weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking!

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND PICKSTwo Important Beer Celebrations This Weekend– It’s not often that two of the year’s biggest beer events fall on the same weekend – with Savor taking place tonight and tomorrow (June 3rd-4th) in the nation’s capital and the spectacular Firestone Walker Invitational on Saturday in Paso Robles.

SAVOR This! (Washington, DC) – One of America’s premier craft beer events is returning to Washington, DC this weekend (June 3rd & 4th), and amazingly there are still a few tickets available for Friday night! Presented by the Brewers Association, SAVOR is one of three annual events that the organization puts on every year. But unlike the Craft Brewers Conference (CBC) which is for and all about the Industry and its professionals, and The Great American Beer (GABF) which is geared more for the craft beer’s fans, SAVOR is about the harmony between craft beer and cuisine. If you’ve ever attended a SAVOR in the past – then you already know how special it is. And if you are able to land tickets to , THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND PICKSthis weekend’s “American Craft Beer & Food Experience” – get ready to have your world rocked!

On The Big Screen – This week’s new movie openings run the gamut from ridiculous, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows to embarrassingly stupid, Andy Sandberg’s Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping,  and we suggest you avoid both of them like the plague.

Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest (Paso Robles, CA) – The best non-Brewers Association festival in the country, the 2016 Firestone Walker Invitational is also returning this weekend and if we could clone ourselves, we’d be out there too. Considered by many to be the “Coachella of Craft Beer” there are few craft beer events as cool as the Invitational. Where Savor works hard to showcase a constantly changing roster of America’s newest and best breweries, the Invitational casts an even wider and more global net. Cutting-edge overseas breweries like London’s Beavertown, and New Zealand’s Garage Project will be pouring their best and if you were lucky enough to score tickets to this Saturday’s “beerganza” you’re gonna have a “rave-level” blast.

TV Time – AMC recently debuted a six part British-American miniseries based on John le Carré’s first non-cold war masterpiece, The Night Manager, and it’s smart and exciting television. Tom Hiddleston stars as a former British solider who’s recruited by an intelligence operation, to take down an evil international arms trader, Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie). Add in a sexy girlfriend and endless array of exotic locations and you’re in for a wild ride.

SAVORalways presents a special collaboration beer, as a parting gift, to all its attendees and this year it’s a mash-up of “east meets west.” Portland, Maine’s Allagash Brewing teamed up with Bend, Oregon’s Deschutes to create Pettygrove’s Chance for this year’s outing – and it’s described as an elegant union of delicate Oregon and Maine malts and specially sourced, farmhouse yeast.
