Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out For – September 5, 2013

So many beers, So little time…With so many craft breweries, releasing so many beers, we thought it might help to provide a weekly update on all the new beers that are hitting the streets. So welcome to this week’s edition of Newbies – your guide to great new craft beer releases!

, Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out For – September 5, 2013Non-Stop / Non-Stop / Non-Stop (Washington, DC / Kent, WA) – At the risk of being accused of shameless huckstering (which has never stopped us before), how can we not make our new collaboration beer with Kent, Washington’s popular Airways Brewing our lead Newbie? We were excited when they first came to us with the idea of doing a special-edition collaboration beer, and we’re even more excited about what we eventually brewed. Non-Stop Session IPA is the brewery’s first sessionable IPA. Airway’s Founder, Owner & Head Brewer Alex Dittmar had been thinking about creating a full-flavored lower alcohol IPA for a while and everyone agreed that it would be perfect for that end of summer-early fall transition season. It’s an aromatic IPA that blends the smoothness of an East Coast Pale Ale with the hoppiness that defines the West Coast IPA. Non-Stop Session IPA is available today, September 5th at both Airways locations, select bottle shops, as well as at AmericanCraftBeer.com and the brewery’s online store.

A Seasonal Montage (Fort Collins, CO) – We’ve written about Odell Brewing’s seasonal Montage Varity 12-Packs in the past. We think them a brilliant idea and we’re big fans of their concept and changing seasonal lineups. The new Fall-Winter Montage Variety 12-Pack features two brewery flagships: their IPA and 90 Shilling Ale as well as two interesting Newbies. Well Spring Dry-Hopped Saison was inspired by their small-batch pilot system – it’s a 6.6% ABV hop-forward take on the classic Saison. Also included is their winter seasonal, Isolation Ale, a sweet caramel malty ale with a crisp hop finish.

, Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out For – September 5, 2013It’s Oktoberfest Time at The Center of the Universe (Ashland, VA) – This Friday, September 6th, Center of the Universe Brewing Company will release their Oktoberfest, a new beer that celebrates the fall season. This is their take on the classic Munich fest beers and it’s brewed using Noble German hops and a Czech yeast strain. Oktoberfest pours golden amber and drinks clean and refreshing.

, Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out For – September 5, 2013Deschutes Gets Wet (Bend, OR) – Deschutes Brewery is taking full advantage of its close proximity to some of the world’s leading whole flower hops this season, releasing two fresh hop beers later this month. Hop Trip, a 5.5% ABV seasonal, features fresh Crystal hops that traveled from the fields at Oregon’s Sodbuster Farms and into the brew kettle – all in a matter of hours. The 7.2% ABV Chasin’ Freshies is in its second year in the Bond Street Series, and uses Gamache Farms’ famed fresh Amarillo hops for this year’s vintage. Both beers will be available in most of the 22 states where Deschutes Brewery beers are sold, starting in October.

Sweet Deceit (Fort Collins, CO) – Funkwerks, the award-winning Saison-focused Colorado brewery, has released a limited quantity of a special barrel-aged Belgian-Style Golden Ale. Rum Barrel Deceit drinks strong and smooth and pours golden. The brewery only produced nine and a half barrels of this 10% ABV beauty and it’s available now on draft and in bottles at the Funkwerks taproom. You can also find it on draft in select Fort Collins locations and at liquor stores in 750 ml bottles in Colorado, Nebraska, and Arizona.
