Beer Alert: New Ballpark Pilsners And Bavarian Dark Ales

March is ON and American craft brewers are addressing things with an intriguing roster of new beers you’re gonna want to have around as we say goodbye to winter.

Double Feature (Cleavland, OH) – Great Lakes Brewing has just introduced the new Double Feature IPA Series, a special line of limited releases that pairs classic and remastered Double IPAs with epic cinematic artwork.

Available in 12oz 6-packs as well on draft, the first in this promising new series is Return of the Lake Erie Monster Double IPA, a colossal 9.5% ABV remake of GLBC’s Lake Erie Monster Double IPA that features the bold, flavorful hop character of the original but with a lighter and more approachable body.

“We felt it was time to modernize some of our rotating Double IPAs in formula,” said GLBC Chief Commercial Officer Chris Brown, “and inject the series with a fun new theme to stand out at retail across all our markets.”

A Dunk Up (Colorado) – Prost Brewing is celebrating its first bier brewed and canned at its new Northglenn headquarters with a special bier style that originated in Bavaria in the south of Germany around the 1500s. German inspired and Colorado crafted, Prost Dunkleweizen is a 5.7% ABV seasonal that combines the bready, chocolate-like flavors of a Dunkel with the sweet esters of a Hefeweizen.

As Prost continues constructing its new production headquarters, its growing bier lineup and seasonal biergarten exclusives will reflect the brewery’s commitment to brewing German styles with the highest quality ingredients. All of Prost’s biers, including its traditionally modern Dunkleweizen and crisp Biergarten Lager, are brewed authentically with sustainably sourced German-grown hops and malts that are hand-selected for quality.

Bases Loaded (St Paull, MN) – In April 2021, the two beloved Minnesota brands Summit Brewing and the Minnesota Twins celebrated a new partnership with a special beer that would be widely available throughout the region as well as at the hometown ballpark.

Actually a rebranding of one of the brewery’s most popular releases, Keller Pils, Summit Twins Pils is a 5.1% ABV unfiltered German-Style Pilsner with sweet, honey malt notes and floral citrus hop flavors that finishes dry and clean. And with the renewal of this partnership, the iconic Twins Pils packaging is getting a fresh, new look for the 2024 MLB season, featuring the updated Twins logo.
