The winter holidays are officially ON. And we’ve some fun new releases that pair smartly with the season.
Eccentric Madness (Fort Collins, CO) – Just in time for the winter holiday’s, New Belgium Brewing has released the 2020 version of its pioneering and multi-award-wining sour ale that has been maturing for years in giant oak wine barrels called foeders.
New Belgium’s La Folie (French for ‘Eccentric Madness”) is a 7% ABV sharp and tart, Flanders-Style Sour Brown Ale with green apple, deep cherry, dark chocolate and plum skin notes, which was crafted using the oldest continuous souring culture in America.
4 Seasons Gets Gassed (Vista, Ca / Nampa, ID) – Mother Earth Brewing has a new addition to its quarterly Barrel-Aged Series that they describe as “a dessert-inspired delight.” Lactose fueled and NITRO-infused, Mother Earth 4Seasons is a 10.9 % ABV Imperial Mocha Stout loaded with chocolate and whole coffee beans.
Sour Farts (Baltimore, MD) – DuClaw Brewing has partnered with Brew Pipeline for the national return a popular sour release next May. Made with a trio of real fruits and edible glitter flecks, DuClaw Sour Me Unicorn Farts is a 5.5% ABV Sour Ale that is crafted to mimic the flavors of the famous Fruity Pebbles doughnut from Baltimore-based Diablo Doughnuts.
“This is our third year producing what has become a sour classic,” says Chris Wood, DuClaw’s director of brewery operations. “The demand is incredible and continues to grow, so this year will be our biggest drop yet in order to reach even more fans across the country.”
Stout Stuff (Worcester, MA) – At a time when many American craft breweries are introducing lower-octane and considerably more sessionable beers than ever before, Massachusetts-based Greater Good Imperial Brewing Company is thinking BIG and offering nothing but Imperial brews. And they’ve a bourbon-barreled offering that is so worth your time.
Aged for over 12 months in specially curated bourbon barrels, Greater Good BBA Evana is a 10% ABV Russian Imperial Chocolate Stout that was generously brewed with Ecuadorian cocoa.
