Weekend Drinking: New Christmas Beers And Holiday Sours

, Weekend Drinking: New Christmas Beers And Holiday SoursThe winter holidays are officially ON.  And we’ve some fun new releases that pair smartly with the season.

Christmas Cookie Crafted (Detroit, MI) – Atwater Brewing has a new holiday offering which was inspired by a German Christmas cookie with a storied history that’s currently available throughout Michigan as well as in select Midwest States. Festively spiced with almond and ginger, Atwater Lebkuchen Christmas Ale is a 6.5% ABV Winter Warmer with rich, walnut, toffee and raisin notes and a cookie-like character.

“Legend has it that the Lebkuchen honey cake traces back to the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans and was a gift of the deities that had magical and healing powers,” Atwater President Mark Rieth says. “We’re not saying our beer is magical or has healing powers but we know that “its magical flavors” are unique and refreshing and will add a lot of spirit to any holiday festivities.”

Monstrous (Newport, OR) – Rogue Ales has introduced a new year-round inspired by a gigantic sea monster rumored to have been sighted in Oregon’s coastal waters. Brewed with a monstrous dosing of Cascade, Chinook, Citra and Strata hops, Rogue Colossal Claude is an 8.2% ABV Imperial IPA with huge citrus and floral aromatics and a soft bitter finish.
