Summer’s just around the corner and American craft brewers are addressing the changing seasons with ambitious new offerings you might want to chase down…
Viva Las Vegas (Columbus, OH) – BrewDog USA recently sent us one of its classic year-rounds. This time to celebrate the fact that it had signed the lease for a new rooftop bar in Las Vegas as well as its its sometimes strained relationship with the Elvis Presley Estate. And we’re thankful they did because we’d forgotten how much we enjoy it.
BrewDog Elvis Juice is a 6.5% ABV grapefruit-infused American IPA with a bitter edge that might push your citrus tolerance to the brink if it wasn’t tethered to a sturdy caramel malt backbone that prevents the full frontal fruit overload that mars so many tropical India Pale Ales.
Tiki Time (Indianapolis, IN) – Sun King Brewing is returning a much-anticipated King’ Reserve release for 2021. Inspired by those Tiki-drink cocktails from the 1960s, Sun King Polynesian Passions is a MASSIVE 13% ABV tropical barrel-aged Belgian-Style Tripel with a boozy pineapple, orange, and toasted coconut character.
Beer Attack! (Portland, OR) – Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB), the first B Corp brewery in the Pacific Northwest, has a new addition to its fruited sour line with the best name ever. Crafted with ruby red prickly pears HUB Cactus Attactus is a 5.3% ABV Kettle Sour with bright melon and lemony citrus notes.
“This release is super fun to try as sunnier days roll in,” said Matt Speckenbach, Head Brewer at Hopworks. “Cactus Attactus is a perfect summer drinker—and this year we added an extra hundred pounds of prickly pears to every batch to really let the fruit and its beautiful magenta color shine through.”
