Yikes, December’s tomorrow? The year might be blowing by but clearly the craft beer biz isn’t slowing down anytime soon. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in into all the beer news and lifestyle that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you don’t want to miss that!
Beer Bloodbath At Avery (Boulder, CO) – Maybe it’s a sign of the times, but Avery Brewing has reportedly put an unexpected and surprising end to three beloved beer series that have defined the brewery’s commitment to BIG beers for more than a decade. The Demons of Ales Series is now GONE…the Holy Trinity Series now a memory…and the Dictators Series gone the way of Fidel Castro.
No Salvation For Salvation! – Fans reeled as word spread that Avery would stop brewing and bottling monsters like The Beast, Samael’s Ale, Mephistopheles, The Kaiser, The Czar, Salvation and Dugana (No!) – and found little consolation in the in reports that “three remaining beers from these series, The Reverend, Maharaja and Hog Heaven, have been repackaged and will be released in new formats.”
Words To Drink By (Los Angeles, CA) – “If you’ve got nothing to say, no one’s gonna want to hear it…at least not for long.” Bob Lefsetz, Writer and Music Industry Analyst
Another Rocky Mountain High Initiative (Denver, CO) – It appears that Colorado is shaking things up yet again. The state that first legalized the recreational sale and use of pot is poised to take on another legal barrier – the 21 years old drinking age standard. According to Rooster, a group of state activists have filed a new initiative, calling for the legal drinking age to be lowered to 18, a position we at American Craft Beer actively support.
What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – Flying Dog just sent us something new from their series and we nailed it last night! Perfectly straddling the line between salty and sweet, Brewhouse Rarities Sea Salt Caramel Brown is an outstanding 7% ABV Brown Ale that understands “going both ways.”
