Fall’s coming and American craft brewers are addressing things with an intriguing roster of new beers you’re gonna want to have around.
Wasn’t Born Yesterday (Petaluma, CA) – Like the many pumpkin ales and Oktoberfest releases, fresh hop brews are another welcome addition to the fall season. And happily Lagunitas has returned something special.
A fresh-hopped variation of their popular Dogtown Pale, using fresh-picked hop cones from the Yakima Valley that were transported overnight in refrigerated trucks and immediately dropped in the brew vat, Lagunitas Born Yesterday Fresh Hop Ale is a 7.2% ABV, lupulin-drenched and un-kilned take on a classic.
A Cut Up (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing has an interesting release that joins the brewery’s rotating Once-a-Year Series, a special line of offerings that includes iconic beers like Mad Elf, Nugget Nectar, and Nimble Giant.
A nod to the second hop procedure where farmers trim back the extra hop shoots to bolster the harvest, Tröegs Second Cut Mango Double IPA is a hefty 8.5% ABV India Pale Ale with a silky smooth hop profile and fresh mango notes that linger.
“We’re always searching for new flavors to showcase in our seasonal beers,” explains Tröegs co-founding brother and brewmaster John Trogner. “Over the years, First Cut has become a cult classic, so we thought we’d create something bigger and bolder for those fans.”
Two Beers You’ll “Fall” For (Dallas, TX) – One of our favorite Texas breweries, Lakewood Brewing is looking to fall with the return two popular pumpkin beers.

Brimming with the cozy warmth of pumpkin spice and the bold kick of coffee, courtesy of Noble Coyote Coffee., Lakewood Spice Latte Temptress is a 9.1% ABV Imperial Milk Stout that was crafted with coffee, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg & ginger.
But don’t’ overlook Lakewood Punkel either, it’s a 5.5% ABV spiced German Lager, the brewery’s longest and most popular seasonal and the first local pumpkin-inspired beer in the region containing no pumpkin, just pumpkin pie spices.
