Keystone Light has long aligned itself with rural beer fans, outdoorsy people who like to hunt and fish. So it’s no surprise that they just debuted a series of fishy promotions to “hook” new consumers.
Keystone Light’s fishing activations started with newly designed fishing-inspired cans earlier this month. Turns out, while much of the country is still dealing with cold weather, fishing fans are already thinking about casting a line and Molson Coors expects they’ll need beer.
“Fishing is very much on people’s minds around this time of year,” Matt Lafferty, marketing manager for Keystone Light told Beer & Beyond. “It’s time for 2024 fishing license renewal, after all.”
Forgive us if we didn’t realize that it was fishing license renewal season, but Keystone Light did and its fishy new can designs are all about it.
“We’re going after the feeling of putting on your vest and getting out all your gear,” says Lafferty. “The anticipation of fishing is what we’re celebrating.”
And Keystone is also celebrating things with a special collaboration with Fishwife Tinned Seafood Co and a special tackle box that will hold your beer and is loaded with savory fishmsnacks.
Keystone’s Smooth Snackle Pack includes tinned rainbow trout raised in pure spring water and smoked in small batches over natural hard wood that you can get HERE. The box also contains insulated space to keep beer cold and a $25 Uber Eats card so you can get the necessary Keystone Light delivered to your house.
“Canned fish is having a moment in the press and on plates,” Lafferty said. “Fishwife stands out as a leader in their category. And the smokey and savory rainbow trout pairs perfectly with a crisp, refreshing Keystone Light.”
Fishing is just the beginning of Keystone Light’s plans in 2024 which will also include continued partnerships with Realtree, Penske, the country music artist Drake White and more.
“It’s going to be a full year of celebrating over shared passions with our fans and we can’t wait to see our team and our distributors use these platforms to execute against Keystone Light,” says Lafferty.
Keystone Light ended 2023 in full-on growth mode and they are looking to up that momentum this year.
“It’s going to be a full year of celebrating over shared passions,” Lafferty added. And clearly, they’ve the gear and beer to do that with, and won’t have to “cut bait.”
