When the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, revelers who’ve been power-pounding beers for hours can rest easy knowing they have a free ride home, courtesy of Coors Light and Miller Lite, assuming they’re in one of seven US cities
Here’s the deal…
As anticipation builds for the countdown to midnight, Molson Coors is helping residents in seven metropolitan areas celebrate the holiday season by offering complimentary mass transit on New Year’s Eve through its 2024 Free Rides program.
Partnering with local public transit, residents in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Milwaukee, Phoenix and Washington DC can enjoy fare-free rides on Sunday, Dec. 31, providing a responsible transportation option to usher in the new year.
This marks the 36th year that Molson Coors’ beer brands have offered free rides on New Year’s Eve in cities across the US. That’s millions of free rides since 1988. And this year the company expects to cross 9 million free rides since the program began.
“This program helps people celebrate responsibly, providing them a way to get home safely,” Alison Hanrahan, community affairs manager, Molson Coors told Beer & Beyond. “We are proud to be able to provide free rides in these markets for our consumers and our employees.”
Holiday partygoers are encouraged to plan their free ride before the countdown to midnight begins. Riders can visit their city’s public transit website to make arrangements for their journey into 2025…

The New Year’s Eve Free Rides program concludes this year’s annual Free Rides initiative.
“We offer free rides throughout the year, including on key holidays like St. Patrick’s Day,” says Hanrahan. “We also offer a number of free rides with our pro baseball, basketball and football alliance partners.”
“As we embrace the new year, Molson Coors remains committed to championing alcohol responsibility in the communities it serves. It’s an honor to contribute to the night’s festivities and welcome in 2025 together,” Hanrahan added “Our hope is to not only provide free rides, but to foster a sense of community and responsibility as we collectively celebrate this new chapter.”
So stay safe people, and Happy New Year from the American Craft Beer crew!
