Festive treats take on new meaning when made with serious craft beer. And who doesn’t like brownies cooked with a rich Imperial Stout?
This delicious recipe comes our way from Chico, California-based Sierra Nevada Brewing and it uses the brewery’s Narwhal Imperial Stout, an aggressive yet refined 10, 2% ABV malt-forward masterpiece from a brewery more commonly known for its Pale Ales and IPAs.
INarwhal is a terrific fall release with rich notes of espresso and bakers cocoa. But feel free to substitute your favorite Imperial Stout if you can’t get your hands on a bottle of Narwhal.
Let’s do this!
Sierra Nevada Narwhal Stout Gooey Brownies
Ingredients
1/4 cup Narwhal Imperial Stout
18-ounce boxed brownie mix
2 large eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks or chocolate chips
Directions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat an 8”x8” baking pan with non-stick spray.
Step 2
Add brownie mix, Narwhal, eggs, and vegetable oil to a large bowl and mix together until just combined. Pour and spread into the prepared pan, topping with chocolate chunks.
Step 3
Bake according to package instructions, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, about 35 minutes. Let cool completely in the pan.
Step 4
Serve with a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream and lots of chocolate sauce and a snifter of Narwhal Imperial Stout.
