This weekend’s post-Thanksgiving beers are flush with timely seasonals and limited release…So welcome to our last Beer Run of November…And there’s plenty to like here.
Big Barreled (Grand Rapids, MD) – Founders Brewing has announced the first barrel-aged release of its taproom-only Mothership Series. Aged on whole vanilla beans in maple bourbon barrels for more than two years, Founders Panther Cub is an 8.7% ABV limited release that will be available for the first time in bottles on Dec 1, but only at the brewery’s Detroit and Grand Rapids taprooms.
Beer Born In The Bronx (NYC) – Two high-profile Bronx companies, Baldor Specialty Foods, a premier ingredient source for NYC’s chefs, and the Bronx Brewery have partnered on B-Tracks, a series of beers crafted to showcase unique fruits, vegetables and spices which change with the seasons. And they’ve just released a special gluten-free offering that’s as inventive as it is unlikely. Brewed with Subarashii Kudamono pears sourced from Baldor, that meld smartly with the beer’s malt replacement sorghum, B-Tracks A Wonderful Pearadox is a 5.9% ABV Extra Pale Ale that provides flavor without the malt.
Celis Brewery Taps Into Its Past With Something New (Austin, TX) – Celis has a new seasonal that was first released by the original Celis Brewery in Austin in 1992 and uses the same recipe as Pierre Celis brewed in Hoegaarden, Belgium. True to its original recipe, Celis Grand Cru Tripel is an 8.6% ABV Belgian-style Ale brewed with pale barley malts, along with Saaz and Cascade hops, and the same proprietary yeast strain that has been used in Celis White since 1965.
Sam Winters Down (Boston, MA) – The Boston Beer Company is returning a special cold-weather seasonal that’s a craft-beer twist on a proud German tradition. Unapologetically rich and malt-forward, Samuel Adams Winter Lager is a festive 5.6% ABV take on the European Bock spiced with fresh ground cinnamon, ginger and orange peel.
Saint Arnold Wines (Houston, TX) – Saint Arnold Brewing has announced the release of its most wine-like beer ever. Saint Arnold Bishop’s Barrel No. 22 is an 8% ABV Texas Saison that was aged in chardonnay barrels for a year along with peaches, apricots, and the wild yeast Brettanomyces.
