In fact a recent study by Casino BonusCA is predicting that Americans will consume an remarkable 38.7 million pints of Guinness, on St. Patrick’s Day, a total spending estimated to hit a staggering $421.6 million – a huge economic win for bars, pubs, and retailers.
And here are the top five US states that are projected to consume the most Guinness on St. Patrick’s Day 2025.
California
“The Golden State” remains the undisputed leader for Guinness consumption, with 13.3 million pints expected to be consumed, contributing $151.8 million to the economy. Major cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego, where the Irish community is large and celebrations widespread, are key drivers of this impressive number. California’s vibrant pub scene, particularly around St. Patrick’s Day, ensures it continues to hold the top spot for Guinness sales.
Texas
“The Lone Star State” comes in second, with 6.87 million pints projected to be consumed, accounting for almost $72 million in spending. Texas has a robust beer culture, with cities such as Austin, Dallas, and Houston leading the charge. And Texas’ large population ensures it remains a key player in Guinness sales year after year.
New York
“The Empire State” impresses with a strong third on St. Patrick’s Day. Do we even have to explain? Albany, Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse alo do there part, so there’s that as well.
Florida
“The Sunshine State” ranks fourth, with 3.15 million pints consumed and $35.08 million in spending. Cities like Miami, Orlando, and Tampa see a major uptick in Guinness sales, driven by a mix of locals and tourists celebrating the holiday.
Illinois
“The Prairie State” rounds out the top five with 1.26 million pints consumed and $12.02 million in spending. Chicago, in particular, is known for its iconic green river and lively St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, driving significant Guinness sales across the city and beyond.
