Alcohol-Free Beer Garden Opens In Munich
Munich is one of the world’s great beer destinations, home to the Oktoberfest, that draws beer tourist from wide and far. But it is also now home to Die Null (The Zero) Europe’s first alcohol-free beer garden, reflecting changing consumption habits in Germany and a growing frustration with public binge drinking in Munich.
As an operation located near the Bavarian capital’s main railway station, Die Null, which is open throughout the summer up until a week before the start of Oktoberfest (Sept 15), serves” its patrons exclusively soft drinks, mocktails, juices, water and non-alcoholic beers in an attempt to strip the area of its boozy, seedy image,” according to The Guardian.
Beer consumption in Germany has been in decline for decades, falling well-behind its neighbors in Czech Republic, Austria and Poland
