Elysian Brewery To Shut Down Seattle Production Brewery After Christmas
Effective Dec 31st, Elysian Brewing which was purchased Anheuser-Busch in 2015, will be closing down its hometown production brewery in Seattle, WA. The sad news that the world’s biggest brewer would closing down the historic brewery speaks volumes as to the company’s commitment to a once legendary craft beer brand.
“All but two of the production brewery staff have until the end of the year, one of the impacted employees told the Washington Beer Blog. “Those two employees will now work at the Capitol Hill brewery. The Brewmaster and Lead Brewer were also let go. The same thing happened at Golden Road [another A-B brewery]. A-B is consolidating us into ‘craft west.’ Some marketing and sales are being kept in that consolidation.”
Elysian’s original brewery and taproom in south Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood has already closed its doors and the year-end closing of its much larger production facility could lead to an additional 80 to 90 employees losing their jobs just after Christmas.
