2023 is just around the corner and American craft brewers are addressing things with exciting new beers you’re gonna want to have around.
Stout Stuff (Venice, Ca) – The Propagator, Firestone Walker’s hot rod pilot brewery in Venice, California has teamed up with Anaheim’s Radiant Beer Co. and released a beer that was inspired by a beloved campfire treat, the s’more.
Available now for a limited time at Firestone Walker’s online store as well as at its three locations in Paso Robles, Buellton, and Venice, Firestone Camp Blanket is a pitch black and full-bodied 9% ABV Imperial Stout with rich graham cracker and chocolate tones and just a hint of campfire smoke in the background.
King Cake Beer (New Orleans, LA) – So what’s a King Cake anyway? The name “king cake” comes from the Biblical story of the three kings who bring gifts to Baby Jesus. A blend of coffee cake and cinnamon roll, king cake is usually iced in yellow, green and purple – the colors of Mardi Gras — and is frequently packed with fruit fillings and decadent cream cheeses. Now Urban South Brewery has partnered with Dong Phuong Bakery – the famous New Orleans king cake maker and come up with a series of king cake beers.

“We are excited to collaborate with Dong Phuong to create three delicious beers for Mardi Gras that encompass New Orleans’ passion for craft beer and king cake,” stated Jacob Landry, Founder and President of Urban South Brewery. “These specialty sour ales will be the perfect beers to drink and enjoy this Carnival season!”
Widely available on January 6 in gracious 16oz cans, Urban South Carnival Time is a 4.6% ABV Sour Ale that captures all the indulgence of the renowned Dong Phuong Cinnamon and Cream Cheese King Cake.
Urban South is also offering two additional taproom only variations Carnival Time Sour Ale with Strawberry Filled King Cake – sweet strawberry filling in a classic Dong Phuong brioche king cake served in a sour ale; and Carnival Time Sour Ale with Coconut Cream King Cake – just as decadent as it sounds.
Mama Mia! (Boulder, CO) – Upslope Brewing has an interesting addition to its International Lager Series that we can’t wait to get our hands on. Crafted with robust additions of several German Noble hop varieties, Upslope Italian Style Pilsner is a crisp and uber-drinkable 5% ABV lager that will satisfy even the most discerning hop lover.
