The infamous drunken pub crawls in Prague have been banned (at least for now). We’ve that, the world’s priciest pilsner, and more.

Beer Pub Crawls Banned In Prague

At the start of November Prague officially banned organized weekend pub crawls, beer drinking parades that drew over 7 million beer lovers  to the Czech capital last year.

The ban was implemented to address the negative effects of pub crawls on the city, including public drunkenness, noise, garbage, and security concerns. The city also wanted to discourage “cheap alco-tourism” and promote a more respectful cultural tourism.

The ban is in effect from 10 PM–6 AM, (yep, these things would go all night), and organizers who violate it face fines of up to 100,000 koruna ($4,300), according to the NY Post.

Some say the ban won’t deter tourists from visiting Prague. They argue that tourists will just do their own pub crawls or simply start drinking earlier. Others argue that organizers and pub crawl guides actually help the city and police keep people quiet and enforce rules. But for now, these legendary pub crawls are done.

Words to Drink By

“Once you’ve made it, don’t keep reminding us that you’ve done so. We know.” – Bob Lefsetz, Music industry writer and media analyst

The $120 Six-Pack Of Lager

Well let’s start with the obvious, any Pilsner that goes for $20 a bottle better be special, very special. And Hanabi Lager is pretty sure they’ve something special.

Hanabi Lager Co  was founded by Nick Gislason, the director of winemaking at Screaming Eagle, “America’s most expensive wine,” where bottles of its small-batch Cabernet Sauvignon can fetch $5,000 or more.

And Gislason’s authentic vision is what Hanabi Lager is all about.

“This is the best beer we have ever brewed, and damn, it just tastes like home,” the company explains on its website, citing their seasonal addition, San Juan Island Bere, which is made from “ancient” barley grown organically in San Juan Island, Washington.

San Juan Island Bere is a 4.9% ABV Pilsner that’s as pricey as it is ambitious.

“Every beer he makes features a single heirloom grain that’s been painstakingly sourced and cared for just like the great wines of the world feature single grape varietals,” The NY Post reported.
