Port City Beers To The UK And Canada

One Of Virginia’s largest and most acclaimed breweries, Port City Brewing is making more international moves and will soon see their beers distributed in both Canada and the United Kingdom.

Here’s the deal…

Port City Brewing Company will begin selling its beers in the United Kingdom and Ontario, Canada this month, expanding its current distribution territory of eight states, Washington DC, and Singapore.

 UNITED KINGDOM

Port City is partnering with the American Craft Beer Company to distribute its beers throughout the UK.  Core brands such as Optimal Wit, Porter, and Monumental IPA will be available both on draft and in bottles.

The Alexandria-based Port City was first introduced to the UK distributor. during a tour of Virginia breweries for European beer buyers in September 2016  that was organized by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) under the direction of Governor Ralph Northam.

The United Kingdom is the second largest international market for American craft brewers, representing 10.5% of total exports.  Annual sales of American craft beer in the UK grew 7.1% in 2017.

ONTARIO, CANADA

In addition to Port City’s new UK connection, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario has selected Port City’s top-selling Optimal Wit for a summer placement.

Port City is teaming up with Horizon Beers to distribute sixteen-ounce cans throughout the province starting in late July.

Canada is the largest importer of American craft beer, accounting for 51.3% of total exports in 2017.

Founded in 2011 by Karen and Bill Butcher, Port City was named Small Brewing Company of the Year at the Great American Beer Festival in 2015, just one of its many awards.
