805 is a phenomenon in the beer biz, a rising craft beer flagship at a time when most flagships are taking water. And their new podcast, which they’re doing with the World Surfing League, is yet another example of the kinds smart marketing they employ.
Firestone Walker’s 805 Beer is all about lifestyle, particularly California lifestyle and this new project captures that vibe.
On January 29, Firestone Walker announced that announced that 805 Beer, (California’s bestselling craft beer by the way), and the World Surf League had extended their multi-year partnership and launched their latest collaboration, the “Cold Beer Surf Club,” an original podcast and short film series hosted by 805 Authentico and professional surfer Conner Coffin.
The “Cold Beer Surf Club” takes viewers and listeners into candid conversations rooted in surf and culture. And the first episode, which is live now, sets the bar high, it features Foo Fighters guitarist and avid surfer Chris Shiflett. So yeah…a nice place to start.
Episodes will air monthly and will also feature companion short films that go beyond the podcast conversations, such as Coffin and guests hitting the waves or picking up guitars, hearty conversations and connections over shared passions.

“Surfing is a community that feeds off a shared passion for arts, music, and cultures that both pro surfers and surf fans are inspired by,” Coffin said. “I’m excited to share these stories with fellow athletes and friends to provide our unique perspectives and inspire others. 805 Beer is part of the landscape where I grew up, so we share many of the same values and pursuits. I’m stoked for this new venture with my 805 Beer family and the incredible stories we’ll tell.”
The “Cold Beer Surf Club” is but the latest of 805’s ongoing support of the competitive surfing community.
805 Beer has also committed to an “Athlete Booster” program for two “Challenger Series” surfers in 2024, where it will select and award one male and one female surfer an endowment to support their tour goals and also cover portions of the surfer’s competition expenses.
