It’s always a good time keeping up with all the new beer releases at this time of year because they can all be so incredibly diverse. And here are more intoxicating summertime releases that caught our attention.
Stolen (San Diego, CA) – Societe Brewing has just returned an award-winning offering that’s the talk of a town known for its serious beer Societe The Thief is a 6.3% ABV Feral Ale(!) brewed with locally-sourced Grenache Blanc grapes from North San Diego County’s Vesper Vineyards.
Turbo Shandy (Akron, OH) – We’re not big fans of the Shandy-style (but a lot of beer-lovers are) and the Hoppin’ Frog Brewery has taken the European tradition and amped it up to 11. Hoppin’ Frog Grapefruit Turbo Shandy is a 7% ABV summer refresher with an unapologetic malt backbone.
From Belgium To New Belgium (Ft Collins, CO) – New Belgium has returned this year’s version of their popular transatlantic sour for its 14th year – and it’s 100% wood-aged this time around. The end product of a blending and aging process that began in Belgium at Oud Beersel and ended in New Belgium’s compound in Ft Collins, 2017 Transatlantic Kriek is an effervescent and fruity exercise in deft blending and tart cherry fruitiness.
Loud, Aggressive And Eccentric (Escondido, CA) – Stone Brewing has tripled down on its mega-hop ethos with a recent release. An avant-garde intensification of the brewery’s beloved Ruination IPA, Stone Ruinten Triple IPA W/ Orange peel and Vanilla Bean is a MASSIVE 10.8% ABV celebration of Magnum, Centennial and Citra hops that utilizes fresh orange peel and vanilla bean to kick things into overdrive.
Summer Love – (Crozet, VA) – Starr Hill brews a year-round Hefeweizen that gains new meaning in the summer months. Light bodied, unfiltered and undeniably sessionable, Starr Hill’s The Love is a 5.1% German-style Wheat Beer with a wonderfully fruit-forward energy and a surprisingly spicy finish.
