There’s An App for That

When we first got a smart phone, we downloaded the "Zombie, Run!" app, a fun GPS based game that put you in the middle of a zombie attack. That was pretty cool. At least cooler than the "Acne Clear" app...
As the world has evolved, people's loves have been turned into something they can easily access through their phone. Games, address books, camera apps. But beer seemed to be lagging.
Over the last year, beer drinkers have been offered up some amazing apps like UnTappd and Beerdog, apps that let you tell your friends what you are drinking, where you are drinking it and how you feel about it. They both have their positives (UnTappd's large selection, Beer Dog's ability to recognize a photo of the label), but they don't tell you how close you are to the source.

Enter the Washington Beer Commission.
If you go to your app store and search "Washington Beer" you will be given an app that tells you where to find the Washington brewery nearest you. In Puyallup and need a beer? Hey Powerhouse is right down the street. Unquenchable thirst in Richland? Rattlesnake Mountain Brewery is in your sights.

Using your GPS, the "Washington Beer" app points you to your destination, gives you contact info, websites, as well as giving brewery updates and pointing to stories on the Washington Beer Blog. Our favorite part: they provide information about the WBC's tasting festivals.
This should make drinking SO much easier.
