The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – September 18, 2015

Hey the work week is over… And it’s time to start thinking fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals, movies and music to cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time.  Plus we’ve a special weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking!

So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – September 18, 2015The Mother Of All Oktoberfest Celebrations (Munich, Germany) – Over the next couple of weeks we’re going to be deluged by Oktoberfest celebrations here in the states. But the one that started it all is kicking off this weekend over in Germany. The 182nd Oktoberfest kicks off its almost two weeks of drinking, lederhosen and festivities this Saturday, September, 19th. This is the original throwdown, but it’s also the largest and definitely the most renown. For the complete rundown on this Märzen and polka fueled funfest check out: oktoberfest.de

On the Big Screen – After two weeks of shitty releases there’s actually some interesting movies debuting this weekend. Black Mass is a gangster epic that tells the true story of Boston’s infamous Whitey Bulger. Johnny Depp plays the notorious gangster and from the bits we’ve seen of his performance -he kills it! Another history-based thriller opening today, Everest, tells the true story of a climbing expedition on Mt. Everest that was devastated by an unexpected and unprecedented snow storm. The sequel to The Maze Runner, a young adult apocalyptic adventure that surprised many last year, opens this weekend as well. Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials follows the young survivors, who having escaped the Maze, now face a new set of challenges in a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles.

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – September 18, 2015You Might Not Remember The Alamo, But You Wil Have A Blast! (Austin, TX) – Texans might have some trouble remembering all the fun they had this Saturday (9/19), when the 2015 Texas Craft Brewers Festival returns to the Fiesta Gardens complex in East Austin. This two session beerganza will feature an all-Texas lineup and showcase more than 65 of the region’s best breweries. For more info on what they’re billing as “The greatest showcase of Texas craft beer. EVER,” check out: Texas Craft Brewers Festival

TV Time – Netflix recently dropped a new drama that might cause you to never leave the house this weekend. Narcos’ is a potentially addictive drama based on the real life exploits of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar – and chronicles his rise from petty street criminal to the “The King of Cocaine.” The jury’s still out on whether this decades-long continent-spanning, drug epic will go on to become epic viewing.  But it’s sexy, ambitious and has a great look – so we’re in, at least for now.

Mountain Blue & Brew (Telluride, CO) – Blues isn’t our first choice in music but we , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – September 18, 2015have to admit that anything sounds good, drinking beer, in a beautiful mountain valley. The Telluride Blues & Brews Festival is three days (Sept 18th-20th) of Blues, Funk, Jam Band, Rock, Gospel and Soul in a spectacular setting. And, oh yeah, there will be beer – lots of beer.
