The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – October 10, 2014

Hey it’s Friday…Work’s wrapping up and you’re ready to shut down and have some fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to movies, music, and cutting-edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time.

So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – October 10, 2014Big Sky Beer (Missoula, MT) – The 6th annual Montana Brewers Fall Festival returns to the Big Sky State this weekend (Oct. 11th) and if you’ve never attended – now’s the time to turn things around. This year’s event will feature the largest selection of Montana-brewed craft beer ever gathered in one place – 137 mindblowing brews from 33 of the region’s best breweries – and is not to be missed. For a complete listing of all the breweries that will be there, check out: Fall Fest

On The Big Screen – Fall movies are known for amping up the “gravitas factor” – with more prestige productions making their way into the multiplexes – and The Judge is a perfect example. This courtroom drama stars Robert Downey as a big city lawyer who returned to his childhood home to defend a judge who’s also his father (Robert Duvall) and is suspected of murder.

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – October 10, 20145 Chefs, 5 Pigs, Serious Drink (Washington, DC) – Cochon 555 is a 10-city traveling culinary competition and tasting event – five chefs, five pigs, five winemakers – to promote sustainable farming of heritage-breed pigs. It’s touching down at Taste of DC this Sunday (Oct. 12th) and it will be delicious fun. Sponsored byGoose Island, this unique culinary fest unites local farmers, renowned chefs, prominent winemakers, established restaurateurs, brewers, distillers and the pork-loving public in a stand-up tasting reception format – and the winner moves on to the national finals. Beer Durham (Durham, NC) – The All About Beer folks are presenting their annual World Beer Festival this Saturday (Oct. 11th). This two-session event will feature more than 200 craft beers from all around the world as well as “The Art of Beer” educational village where you can drink beer and get smarter – rather than the other way around. For more info on this popular beer outing, check out: World Beer Fest 2014

TV Time – HBO recently returned Boardwalk Empire for its fifth and final run and if you’ve not yet checked it out – it’s time. Steve Buscemi stars as Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, a true life political figure (and gangster) who rose to prominence and controlled Atlantic City during the Prohibition period of the 1920s and early 1930s. Richly cast, smartly written, and beautifully filmed, Boardwalk Empire’s final season is both melancholy and violent and promises to not end gently.
