A CLASSIC RETURNS TO THE WINDY CITY (Chicago, IL) – The third annual American Beer Classic returns to Soldier Field’s iconic grounds this Saturday May 9th. It’s being presented by our friends at Red Frog Events who also put on the mid-Atlantic’s impressive Firefly Music Festival – so we promise you this will be a state-of-the-art production. This year’s Beer Classic offers afternoon and late-afternoon sessions, both featuring more than 75 of the nation’s best breweries and close to 200 beers. And from what we’re hearing they’ll be bringing in their serious stash this year! For more info on what is fast becoming a classic craft beer outing check out: American Beer Classic

Hot Pursuit a PG-13 comedy about an uptight and by-the-book cop (Reese Witherspoon) who tries to protect the outgoing widow of a drug boss (Sofia Vergara) while racing through Texas pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen. And Jack Black returns in The D Train as the head of a high school reunion committee who travels to LA to track down a movie star who was once in his graduating class and convince him to participate in the high school’s reunion.

GOOD BEER / GREAT CAUSE (San Francisco, CA) – The 32nd annual San Francisco International Beer Festival returns to the Fort Mason Center Festival Pavilion, this Saturday May 9th and it’s all for a good cause. For over three decades this historic event has helped to raise money for the Telegraph Hill Cooperative Nursery School so you can take some comfort knowing that your alcoholic behavior is at least helping someone. This year’s evening event will feature hundreds of beers from the region’s best breweries along with international classics – and the food will be off the charts! OUR WEEKEND BEER PICK

We’ve some friends from Deschutes in town this week to introduce their deserving brand to the DC and Northern Virginia marketplace – and we promised them we’d make one of their awesome beers a Weekend Pick. But that’s easy because their 6.4% ABV Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA is an ACB favorite and now you can find in the mid-Atlantic.
