The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – May 2, 2014

Hey it’s Friday and you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to movies, music, and cutting-edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time. We’ve also a Weekend Beer Pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking.

So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – May 2, 2014Boonville or Bust! (Boonville, CA) – The Anderson Valley Brewing Company will be presenting their 18th annual Legendary Boonville Beer Festival this Saturday, March 3rd and this is a fun one. This open-air event, held in California’s scenic Anderson Valley, offers more than 100 beers from some of the West Coast’s best breweries. In addition to the awesome beer, there will be live music, dancing, and some of the region’s best food. And (we love this!) on-site camping is also available. For more information and updates, check out: Boonville Beer Festival

On The Big Screen – It’s superhero time again this weekend for a franchise that’s seen more lives than most. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is actually the second film from the more recent reboot of the Spider-Man franchise and once again stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker (AKA Spider-Man). The beautiful Emma Stone returns as his budding girlfriend and Jamie Foxx plays Electro, one of this edition’s many super-villains.

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – May 2, 2014Drinking in The Gateway City (Saint Louis, MO) – The 19th annual St. Louis Microfest is returning to Forest Park this weekend and it’s going to be a total blast. This two-day (May 2nd-3rd), three-session event will feature beer from the region’s best craft brewers and international offerings as well. There will be food and live music, brewer and chef demonstrations, and all kinds of cool things going on. Profits from the festival go toward funding Lift For Life Gym, an organization that has provided safe activities for children 8 to 18 years old, five evenings a week, all free of charge since 1988. For ticket information and updates, check out: St. Louis Microfest

TV Time – The truth is there are so many promising long-form television dramas debuting nowadays that it’s getting harder to find time for everything. And one new show that you need to work into your already crowded viewing schedule (which should already include Mad Men, Game of Thrones, and The Americans) is Fargo on the FX network. Fargo is a dark comedy-crime television series created by Noah Hawley that is loosely based on the 1996 Coen brothers film of the same name. Billy Bob Thornton is brilliant as the sociopathic drifter who wreaks havoc on the frozen far-north prairie town of Bemidji, Minnesota when he befriends a meek insurance salesman played by Martin Freeman. Make time for Fargo – it’s funny, dark, and worth it.

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – May 2, 2014The Terrapin Beer Company will soon be rolling out the latest beer in their Side Project Series and it sounds crazy unique. Moonray Chocolate Orange Weizenbock was inspired by the flavors of those chocolate oranges that used to show up in Christmas stockings melded into Sunray Wheat, a summer seasonal that Terrapin retired in 2011. The 8.35% ABV Moonray will be available in kegs and in 22 oz. bottles beginning in early May.
