The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – December 12, 2014

Hey it’s Friday and you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to movies, , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – December 12, 2014music, and cutting-edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time. Plus we’ve a weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking!

So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…

Holiday Cheer Beer (Vancouver, WA) – Craft beer festivals have a tendency to slow down at this time of year – the winter holidays are coming up and everybody’s shopping or throwing their own parties. Still, there are some cool craft beer festivals taking place this weekend and the Vancouver Winter Brewfest is one of them. Kick off the holidays with a , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – December 12, 2014little Christmas beer cheer provided by 35 of the region’s most brilliant breweries. And don’t worry about the weather because this three-day festival is being held under heated tents. For more a complete list of all the breweries that will be attending, check out: Winter Brewfest 2014

On The Big Screen – You know the story but you’ve probably never seen it told with CGI effects like this! Ridley Scott’s (who’s one of our favorite directors) goes big-time biblical this weekend when his newest film, Exodus: God and Kings, opens nationwide this weekend. The mercurial Christian Bale stars as Moses (another favorite of ours) and tells the story of a defiant leader who rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

(St. Louis, MO) – The Great St. Louis Czech Beer Festival will be taking place this Saturday, December 13th and you might want to Czech in on it. It’s all taking place at the American Czech Educational Center in South St. Louis, where Missouri and Illinois breweries will be coming  together to celebrate the Czechs’ favorite drink: beer. Food and live music will be available to get your heart pumping. And one brewery will also leave with the coveted 2014 Pivo of the Year Award, voted by you!

Boogie in the Bungalow (Hamburg, PA) – If you’re in the mood for music this weekend, we’ve a wildly random suggestion for you. Boogie in the Bungalow 6 may be the nation’s only “indoor music and camping festival” and it’s just weird enough that it might actually be fun. Boogie 6 takes place overnight this Saturday (Dec 13th – 14th) in one giant indoor rodeo arena, complete with dirt floors to enhance the camping experience. The main stage will be centrally located with indoor campsites scattered all throughout the building.

As the days get colder – we like our beers darker and bolder – and we’ve a classic for you from the Founders Brewing Company but it’s going to take some sleuthing on your part to find it. Kegs of Founder’s legendary Canadian Breakfast Stout have reportedly surfaced throughout the company’s 32-state distribution network – but the brewery remains silent as to where they are. CBS is a 10.6% ABV Imperial Stout brewed with chocolate and coffee and then aged in maple syrup-bourbon barrels.
