The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – August 8, 2014

Hey it’s Friday…Work’s been brutal this week so you’re ready to shut down and have some fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of awesome ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to movies, music, and cutting-edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time.

So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – August 8, 2014Drink Globally (Portland, OR) – The 2014 Portland International Beer Festival returns this weekend and this year, it’s taking place in a new and larger venue, Holladay Park at Lloyd Center. This three-day event (August 8th-10th) will feature more than 200 beers from 16+ countries and some brilliant locally brewed craft beers too. There will also be endless live music, a beer garden, and a huge lawn for picnicking on as well as for participants to pass out on. For more info on this popular beerganza, check out: Portland International Beerfest

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – August 8, 2014On The Big Screen – The movies that are opening this weekend seem marginal at best but from the trailers that we’ve seen, the mega-storm disaster flick Into The Storm looks like a far better “waste of your time” than yet another remake of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Directed by Stephen Quale (whoever he is), Into The Storm stars absolutely no one that we care about but does appear to have tons of tornados destroying just about everything – so that’s got to count for something.

Border Crossing (Halifax, Nova Scotia) – The 8th annual Halifax Seaport Beerfest is taking place up Canada-way this weekend and we can’t think of a better reason for a road trip. Located at Pier 23 on the waterfront, this two-day (August 8th-9th) three-session outdoor event will feature more than 275 beers and ciders with an emphasis on those made in the Maritimes, Ontario, Quebec, Maine, and Ireland. This is one of Canada’s most renowned summer festivals and is not to be missed. For more information on this legendary event, check out: Halifax Seaport Beerfest

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – August 8, 2014Outside Lands Hang (San Francisco, CA) – If you’re thinking music, there’s only one place you need to be and that’s at Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival that’s taking place this weekend ( August 8th-10th) in San Francisco’s legendary Golden Gate Park. One of music’s biggest and most important festivals, this year’s festival is massive and features artists as diverse Arctic Monkeys, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Flaming Lips and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. This is a big one and you don’t want to miss it! For more details and a complete artist listing, check out: Outside Lands 2014.
