DC Beer Week Kicks Off With A Cruise (Washington, DC) – DC Beer Week is kicking off this week and it’s doing it with awesome style! Brewery Ommegang, Boulevard Brewing, and Odyssey Cruises have all partnered to present “The Official DC Beer Week Kick-Off Cruise” thisSunday, August 17. If you’ve ever attended a DC Beer Week, then you know this craft beer-fueled cruise down the Potomac is the highlight of one of the best beer weeks in the nation and that it should absolutely not be missed. For more info on this Odyssey, check out: DC Beer Week Cruise

On The Big Screen – This is a questionable week at best for movie openings. On one hand, you’ve a cadre of aging Botox -filled action movie veterans reprising their roles in The Expendables 3, the world’s most unlikely franchise. On the other hand, you’ve The Giver, another filmed young-adult novel attempting to capture some of The Hunger Games dystopian juju. We suggest that you just hit up Guardians of the Galaxy (if you haven’t already) and enjoy what may well be the best movie of the summer.

Stone 18th Anniversary Party (San Marcos, CA) – Stone Brewing is celebrating their 18th Anniversary Celebration & Invitational Beer Festival this weekend. Although Friday night’s Brewers Reception tickets are still available, both sessions on Saturday (8/16) are sold out. The fest is once again taking place on the campus of Cal State – San Marcos. This year’s festival will be featuring more than 100 , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – August 15, 2014amazing beers from 60 of this country’s best breweries with gourmet food being provided by Stone Brewing’s World Bistro. If you’ve never attended one of these Invitationals – you’ve frankly been blowing it, but you can go here and make amends.

MFNW Returns (Portland, OR) – One of the Pacific Northwest’s most authentic and original music festivals, MusicFestNW, is returning for two days (August 16th – 17th) this weekend. What was once a multistage event (that took place all over town) has been moved to Waterfront Park, but that doesn’t mean it won’t still be a total blast. ACB favorites scheduled to perform this weekend include Haim, Spoon, and Girl Talk. But you also don’t want to miss Phantogram. For ticket info and set times, check out: MusicFest NW
