, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – April 24, 2015Hey the work week is almost a wrap… And it’s time for some weekend fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals, movies, and music to cutting-edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time. Plus we’ve a special weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking!

So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…

Heavy Doings (Cincinnati, OH) – Get ready for some heavy drinking this weekend (April 24th-25th) when the 3rd annual Craft Breweries Starkbierfest returns to “Cin City. The idea for this Strong Beer Festival goes back to the 1700s when the German monks made super-strong beers for their nutritional values to help them get through fasting during Lent. Continuing with this tradition, most of the beers present at this year’s beerganza will be 7.5% or higher and they were all brewed in Cincinnati. Presented by Listermann Brewing, this wonderful two-day festival takes place right next to their compound and shouldn’t be missed – so you know what to do.

Spring Loaded (Providence, RI) – The 21st annual Great International Spring Beer Festival returns to the Rhode Island Convention Center this Saturday (April 25th). This two-session event will offer great music, awesome food, and more than 250 beers from all over the world. The largest beer festival in the Northeast is also one of the most charitable, with proceeds benefiting Rhode Island nonprofits such as the RI Community Food Bank. For a complete listing of all the breweries that will be there, check out: 2015 Spring Beer Fest

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – April 24, 2015On The Big Screen – Since the majority of films opening this weekend seem incredibly weak and/or boring – were once again calling you attention to a movie that opened last week to overwhelmingly positive reviews. A directorial debut from 28 Days Later scribe Alex Garland Ex Machina tells the story of a young programmer who is selected to participate in a breakthrough experiment in artificial intelligence that gets increasingly complicated. Some critics who’ve seen this film are describing it as an early contender for one of the best movies of the year – so there’s that.

TV Time – If you care about serious TV, then you already know that the new season of Game of Thrones returned to HBO a couple of weeks back. And if you’ve never watched this brilliant adult-fantasy it’s time to rethink how you’re living your life. As dark as The Sopranos and maybe even Breaking Bad – HBO’s production ofGeorge R.R. Martin’s best-selling books is game-changing television that will stand the test of time.
