THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEKEND PICKS

Hey it’s the Weekend… and if you’re like us, you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time.  Plus we’ve another weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking!

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEKEND PICKSSweet Virginia (Norfolk, VA) – With the advent of Deschutes, Green Flash and Stone all opening new breweries in Virginia, the state is fast becoming a craft beer tourism destination, that rivals the best in the nation. And they’ll be flexing their newfound industry cred this weekend when the 15th annual Virginia Beer Festival returns to Norfolk, Virginia. This year’s two-afternoon beerganza (May 21st-22nd) will feature more than 125 beers from 65 of the region’s best breweries, with special attention given to the state’s fast-growing local craft beer scene.

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEKEND PICKSSerious Music & Beer (Tulsa, OK) – Remember when HANSON, three brothers from Tulsa, who shook up the pop music scene back in the 90s? Well they’ve grown up, are still touring the world and making great music. They’ve also expanded their creative vision over the years -and even have their own craft beer nowadays and this Sunday (May 22nd) they’re throwing a festival that pulls a lot of their passions together when the 2016 Hop Jam Beer & Music Festival returns to Tulsa’s Brady Arts District. This is serious music (The concert itself will feature HANSON along with artists like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Albert Hammond Jr and X Ambassadors) as well as a serious showcase of the region’s growing craft beer scene. Oklahoma’s most cutting-edge breweries will all be there. And they’ll be joined by major players from all around the country – breweries like Jolly Pumpkin, Boulevard and Lagunitas are also coming in. Festivals like this year’s Hop Jam exemplify the growing fusion of craft beer and music – events that celebrate both crafts equally. It’s an exciting trend for these two entertainment industries – and we’re all about it!

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEKEND PICKSOn The Big Screen – In 2014, no one saw the movie Neighbors coming but it debuted to stellar reviews and went on to become one of the biggest grossing and most successful comedies of the year. That success more than explains Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne return as the neighbors forced to do battle with a wild college sorority that’s moved next door. Chloe Grace Moretz, joins Zach Efron this time around, in a comedic battle of wills, that may (or may not) be as good as the original.

TV Time – Now in its third season, the jury’s still out on whether Showtime’s Penny Dreadful will become something great but 19th century period supernatural thriller, that weaves together classic  gothic characters like Dorian Gray with Dr. Frankenstein, still looks great and features some fine actors. Eva Green returns as a London psychic who unites with explorer Sir Malcolm Murray (Timothy Dalton), American gunslinger Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett), and others to fight supernatural evil in Victorian England. Hey , THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEKEND PICKSwe get that this may not become the next Breaking Bad but it can be entertaining and beats The Real Wife of Anywhere hands down.
