Plan To Get Canned This Weekend! (Scottsdale, AZ) – This Saturday (May 14th) Santan Brewing is once a hosting the Ameri-Can Canned Beer Festival – a celebration of serious craft beer in cans. Over 250 canned craft beers will be featured along with the Craft Can Award Ceremony, live entertainment, artisan food, and even a Beer Science Garden. On The Big Screen – Most people know Jodi Foster the actress, but she’s a damn good director as well and she has a new film coming out this weekend. Money Monster stars George Clooney as a smarmy cable TV stock guru who is taken hostage on-camera by a man who lost all his money by following his investment tips. Jodie Foster directs an all-star cast that 
includes Julia Roberts, Giancarlo Esposito and Caitronia Balfe and in a departure from the norm, is told in real time.
All Hail Hefe! (Portland, OR) – Because the world needs another official day to celebrate, the Mayor and Councilmembers of Portland, on May 11th proclaimed May 15th “Hefe Day.” Created to recognize the 30th Anniversary of Widmer Brother’s first serving of their landmark Hefeweizen at the Dublin Pub, this American-Style Wheat created a new BJCP Category, garnering them numerous GABF and WBC medals. Join the celebration at Pioneer Square this Sunday from Noon to 5pm. Admission is free and open to all ages with tokens being sold for Hefe cans. Local food trucks Koi Fusion & PDX Sliders will be serving up grub, plus Blitzen Trapper will be performing live.

This weekend we’re going BIG and were hitting something from Lagunitas that was first brewed in 2006 to celebrate the brewery’s 13th anniversary. Lagunitas Lucky 13 is described by the brewery as an 8.65% ABV “Ultra-Hoppy. Mega-Mondo, Red Ale” and we’re probably okay with that.
