There is good news and there is bad news. The good news is that it's Friday, and the bad news is that it's the 13th.

And since Friday the 13th isn't the end of the world, it's time to start planning your weekend. If you're up for some suggestions- we've got them. We're all over it and we've got you covered!

So welcome to the special Friday the 13th edition of our weekend picks.

It's Friday the 13th and it is definitely on in Philly! The Grey Lodge is again hosting their annual Friday the Firkinteenth "cask-fest" in northeast Philadelphia. Don't worry about the black cats crossing your paths because they'll have 25 or more firkins of cask conditioned ale ready to tap. So walk under a ladder or do whatever you have to do to get to The Grey Lodge tonight as it's Friday the 13th and it's going to be awesome!

There's only one new movie opening this weekend that we're recommending- and it's perfect for a Friday the 13th. The Cabin in the Woods is that rare horror flick that's pulpy and smart, funny and stupid at the same time. Basically five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. Together, they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods. And we guarantee you that that someone will go down into the basement when they shouldn't.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is happening this weekend out in Cali. There's nothing to be superstitious about here- just lot of good, good music and people having fun in the sun. This weekend's edition features many of our favorites including the re-formed Pulp, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Manchester Orchestra, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Bon Iver, The Shins, Fritz and the Tantrums, Santigold, and the Hives!

Another California event that you might not want to miss is Pizza Port's 15th annual Real Ale Festival which is taking place today and tomorrow at their Carlsbad Village location. More than 50 cask-conditioned ales will be served at this two-day event. VIP tickets with early admission to Saturday's session are still available.

And if you're not in the mood to go anywhere this weekend and would rather just veg out at home with a rental movie-we've a couple of suggestions we think appropriate- Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th Part 2, Friday the 13th Part III, Friday the 13th- The Final Chapter and/or Friday the 13th-A New Beginning.
