The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – May 11, 201

Yikes, it’s May already… and clearly nothing is slowing down anytime soon. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in to all the craft beer news that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you absolutely don’t want to miss that.

Hey This May Be A Joke, But It Isn’t A Joke (Belgium) – In what might be seen as a move of marketing genius, or potentially a ludicrous joke, Anheuser-Busch will changing the name of their flagship beer, “Budweiser” to “America” for the summer. Arrogance anyone? I mean who, besides Prince, would ever decide to rename themselves on a whim, let alone name themselves after the country we all live in. Yes a move like this guarantees media coverage (we’re writing about it aren’t we?) but it certainly doesn’t smack of humility.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – May 11, 201Ninkasi Rebrands (Eugene, OR) – On another rebranding update, this one to celebrate their ten years in the biz, Ninkasi Brewing has introduced a new look for their Flagship Series beers. Developed by Ninkasi’s in-house design team in collaboration with its Artist in Residence, gig poster artist Neal Williams, the art reflects the brewery’s move to a more art-forward aesthetic to capture each beer’s unique vibe.

Words To Drink By (Los Angeles, CA) – “”Generosity is its own form of power.”

World Of Beer Gets Their Drink It Interns (Tampa, FL) – World of Beer recently announced the selections for the company’s first Drink It Intern program. DC area residents and fellow teachers, Jamaal “Scoop” Lemon and Shep Jenkins were two of four interns selected from a pool of more than 7,000 hopefuls who applied in the nationwide search chance to spend the summer traveling the world to capture and share the untold stories of the craft beer industry. And since ACB is headquartered in Washington, were especially happy for them!

Beer Camp Collaborations Ships Nationally (Chico, CA) – Developed by 30 of the industry’s finest craft brewers including, Dogfish Head, Bear Republic and Funky Buddha Brewery, Sierra Nevada’s highly anticipated 2016 Beer Camp Across America 12-packs are rolling out now. This year’s variety pack will feature two beers of each limited edition style and many of them will be available on draft as well this summer. We had the opportunity to sample many of these beers while we were up in Philadelphia at last week’s CBC, and all we can say is that, the 2016 collaborations are serious fun.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – May 11, 201What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all of the American craft breweries who’ve shipped us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and it helps us have a better feel for what’s happening out there. Last night we hit up something we just received from our friends at Upslope. Brewed with snowmelt, malt, and Southern Hemisphere hops Upslope Imperial IPA is a massive 10% India Pale Ale that more than lives up to its robust reputation.
