The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – June 22, 2016

Yikes, June is flying by… and clearly nothing is slowing down anytime soon. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in to all the craft beer news that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you absolutely don’t want to miss that.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – June 22, 2016Founding Brewer For MIA Beer Company Killed In Car Crash (Doral, FL) – The South Florida brewing community is mourning the loss of one of MIA Beer Company’s founding brewers, Piero Rodriguez, who died early Sunday in a car crash. Friends and family have set up a Go Fund Me page to raise funds for his son.

Can Music Affect How You Feel About Your Beer? (Brussels) – A recent study, helmed by Dr. Felipe Carvalho of the Vrije Universiteit in Brussels, has found that the music you’re listening to while drinking, may alter how you feel about your beer. Interestingly enough, researchers found that a “Disney-style soundtrack” caused people to rate the beers as tasting sweeter, while music with deep and pronounced base tones caused participants to evaluate their beers as more bitter.

Words To Drink By (Los Angeles, CA) – “”Be proud you can do one thing well…most people can’t even do that.”

Bob Lefsetz – Music Analyst & Writer

FCB Announces That They Are Transitioning! (Ft Collins. CO) – In yet another sign of one of craft beer’s most prevalent trends,  the Fort Collins Brewery has announcing that like so many, they too are “transitioning” and shifting from bottles to an “all-cans” operation

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – June 22, 2016Are Craft Beer Drinkers Actually Healthier? (Rochester, NY) – Well if a recent survey of 1,978 drinking-age adults from Harris Interactive is to be believed – they think they are. According to the study 80% of the craft respondents consider themselves to “heath conscious” (okay) report drink less often. And unlike just about everybody we know, almost 50 percent of the craft beer enthusiasts polled keep their brews to the weekend (as compared to a staggering 39 percent for non-craft beer segment, who clearly are all borderline alcoholics).

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all the breweries who ship us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and helps to give us a better feel for what’s happening out there. Last night we hit up something new that we recently received from Genesee Brewing. A recent addition to their Brew House Pilot Batch Series, Genesee Brew House IPA is a 7% ABV hop-forward India Pale Ale tethered to a solid malt backbone.
