The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – February 3, 2016

Yikes it’s February already… and clearly nothing is slowing down anytime soon. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in to all the craft beer news that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you absolutely don’t want to miss that.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – February 3, 2016The 2016 American Craft Beer Week Is Coming…And You Can’t Stop It! (Boulder, CO) – For the 11th year in a row, our friends at the Brewers Association will be celebrating American Craft Beer Week – and we hope you will too. This annual week-long national party provides craft brewers with a fun opportunity to share their mad brewing skilz and passion with beer lovers everywhere. From May 16th through the 22nd, all 50 states will be holding exclusive brewery tours, special craft beer releases, food and beer pairings, tap takeovers – all in celebration of American craft beer.

Ninkasi’s Jamie Floyd Agrees To Be Probed (Eugene, OR) – Maybe’s he’s not all that familiar with what we do here at ACB – or maybe his lawyer just wasn’t available when we dropped by. But whatever the reason, Ninkasi’s Jamie Floyd recently submitted himself to 5 Stupid Questions asked by the American Craft Beer Think Tank. You can read up on this embarrassing spectacle here next week – and we promise you do not want to miss this!

Words To Drink By (Los Angeles, CA) – “Don’t get excited about the Stones’ latest tour. It will only encourage them.”

A, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – February 3, 2016CB On The Town (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank Greg Engert, Megan Baily and the entire NRG crew for having us down to Georgetown on Monday, for a special event showcasing the newest addition to the Neighborhood Restaurant Group family. From Engert’s brilliantly curated Belgian beer menu (which showcases all kinds of rarities and many offerings seldom seen in the states), to Chef Peter Smith’s cutting-edge cuisine, The Sovereign promises to be something special – a Belgian Beer Bistro that will appeal to both the most sophisticated and seasoned beer fan among us – and those of us who aren’t even sure if they like Belgian beer or cuisine. The Sovereign, which opens this week, is a celebration of Belgian beer culture, the foods that go with it and a welcome addition to DC’s ever-growing craft beer scene.

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all of the American craft breweries who’ve shipped us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and it helps us have a better feel for what’s happening out there. Last night we hit up a late-winter seasonal from our friends at Starr Hill. A hybrid that melds the India Pale Ale and an Amber, Starr Hill Reviver is a citrusy 6.2% ABV Red IPA that gets the job done!
