, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – August 6, 2014Flying Dog Adds Music to their Game-Day Outings with the Baltimore Ravens (Baltimore, MD) – Flying Dog’s media goddess, Erin Weston, just tipped us that the brewery is upping the ante in their partnership with the Baltimore Ravens – and that they are adding music to the already heady “game-day” mix. Before every Ravens home game, Flying Dog Brewery will host live music and serve craft beer at the new Flying Dog Underpass on RavensWalk, one of the NFL’s best tailgate areas. In addition to live music, fans can also watch live NFL pregame coverage on a jumbotron while they go pregame crazy.

Hopocalypse Now! (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) – In yet another sign of the growing global interest in American craft beer, the former head brewer at Upslope Brewing, Alex Violette, has announced that he’ll be moving to Vietnam to launch Pasteur Street Brewing Company in Ho Chi Minh City, according to the Daily Camera.

New Belgium Goes Vertical (Asheville, NC) – Things are looking up at New Belgium’s now under construction North Carolina facility.New Belgium spokeswoman Susanne Hackett told the Citizen-Times that they are “just starting to go vertical” at the brewery construction site and that “It will be easier and more exciting to see the process unfolding over the next year or so as buildings go up.” The goal is to be brewing in Asheville by the end of 2015.

Beer Camp Tour Careens to its Final Destination (Mills River, NC) – If you’re part of ACB’s growing family of craft beer-crazed fans and dangerous hopheads…You know that we’ve been all over Sierra Nevada’s brilliantly conceived “Beer Camp Across America” Tour. Well, the nationwide seven-city celebration of regional craft beer and the spirit of collaboration came to an inevitable halt on Sunday – but clearly the party was far from over. What began in the brewery’s own backyard of Chico, California, ended festively at their new facility in North Carolina. Sierra Nevada’s Brian Grossman summed up his Beer Camp Tour experience to Men’s Journal this way: “If I never see another bottle of beer, I’ll be alright…”

What We’re Drinking This Week (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all of the American craft breweries who have shared their wares with us in the past and those of you who have shipped us beer from time to time. It’s great to be able to sample the brews that we write about and it helps us have a better feel for what’s happening out there. Just last night, we hit the newest from Flying Dog’s Brewhouse Rarities Series and it was a pleaser. Flying Dog Agave Cerveza is their take on a Mexican-style lager enriched with agave nectar and finished off with a touch of lime…bueno!
