The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill
This Week’s Guide to Industry News, Gossip & Innuendo
It's Wednesday, and there's all kinds of things going down!
Colorado's Dry Dock Brewing is making big moves, and Fordham and Old Dominion are rocking! Surly Brewing's looking for the next great coaster artist, and North Coast has its heart set on Dixie . . . Plus, we've got hot new spring and summer releases that you want to look out for.
So, on to "Everything We Think Matters" . . .
Dry Dock's Making Moves (Aurora, CO) – Dry Dock Brewing, a Colorado favorite and winner of the Great American Beer Festival's highly-coveted Small Brewing Company of the Year award, will be opening a huge second brewery in north Aurora later this year according to Jonathan Shikes at westworld.com. This expansive new operation, which is scheduled to go online in November, will allow them to do 100,000 barrels a year, and that would make them the second biggest brewery in Colorado. They'll also be adding a canning line (isn't everybody?) and a tasting room, which we're pretty psyched about!
Delmarva Rocks! (Dover, DE) – The Fordham and Old Dominion Brewing Company have begun the countdown to R2Hop2, their first beer and music festival, on May 19, 2012. There will be non-stop music, a multitude of local artisans sharing their crafts, such as gourmet dog biscuits, purses made out of beer six-pack carriers and homemade soap, and of course there will be firkin tappings and special beer releases all day long! Continuing the brewery's Year of Giving Back, a portion of the R2Hop2 proceeds will support the Dover Air Force Base's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program. Tickets for R2Hop2 are still available through FordhamBrewing.com and OldDominion.com.
Surly Brewing Gets Artsy (Minneapolis, MN) – Hey, Surly Brewing's inviting its friends to design a coaster for them. It's all in support of Art-A-Whirl, and they're asking Surly Nation to design the 2012 Surly coaster! More than 100,000 of these coasters will be distributed in bars and restaurants all over the twin cities. You could be famous! But it's got to be good and it's got to be done soon, because the contest closes on Thursday, May 17. CLICK HERE to submit your Surly Coaster design.
North Coast Goes South East (Ft Bragg, CA) - As we predicted, Mississippi's newly changed beer legislation has opened the state to out-of-state brewers who are now able to sell their products deep in the heart of Dixie! Mississippi Beer News is reporting that California-based North Coast Brewing Company confirmed that they intend to distribute their products to Mississippi soon.

Ruin will be available on draft and in bottles On May 21st. The APOCALYPSE series features the artwork of comic artist Charles Burns from his Black Hole cycle.
