THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER – QUICK HITS

We blame the industry for this… It used to be that when we wrapped up our Weekend Picks on Friday, we could coast through the weekend. There was little need to check in for updates – things were pretty much done. But clearly all that’s changed.

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER – QUICK HITSSo here’s some of what’s happened in the world of craft beer while you were off enjoying yourselves.

ACB Detox – (Washington, DC) – It was nice to catch up with everybody out in Denver – it was a great GABF. We’re not apologizing for having had too much fun – but we will be giving our livers a necessary break this week. Thanks again to the Brewers Association for all that you do and if you haven’t already checked 5 Things That Probably Won’t Happen At This Year’s GABF, you need too.

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER – QUICK HITSThe Fusion Of Craft Beer And Music Continues (Longmont, CO / Brevard, NC / Austin, TX) – The music industry and the craft beer biz have long been kindred spirits. So it doesn’t surprise us that Oskar Blues has announced that in 2016 ,they’ll be opening a new brewery, taproom and music venue in what’s billed as  the “the Live Music Capital of the World,” Austin, Texas.

Words To Drink By (Milton, DE) – “”We’re heading into an incredibly competitive era of craft brewing…There’s a bloodbath coming.”

Sam Calagione – Dogfish Head

Sam Adams Does Nitro (Boston, MA) – Last Friday, Ashley Leduc, the communication goddess for Boston Beer, tipped us to the fact that Sam Adams will be introducing series of nitrogen-carbonated beers. The beers -an IPA (of course), a white ale, and a coffee stout – will begin distributing nationally in February 2016.

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER – QUICK HITSGood News & Bad News For Beer Women (Sweden) – A study released by the University of Gothenburg has found both good news and bad news for women who drink alcohol weekly. The good news is that women who drink a couple of glasses of beer a week will cut their heart attack risk by a third (Yes!). The bad news is that study found that women who drink that drink two pints a month had an almost 50 percent greater risk of cancer (yikes!).
