THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER – QUICK HITS

We blame the industry for this… It used to be that when we wrapped up our Weekend Picks on Friday, we could coast through the weekend. There was little need to check in for updates – things were pretty much done. But clearly all that’s changed.

So here’s some of what’s happened in the world of craft beer while you were off enjoying yourselves

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER – QUICK HITSNew Motörhead Beer (London, UK) -Heavy metal/thrash rock gods, Motörhead are celebrating twenty-two studio albums and 40 years on the road by crafting a new beer. Not the band’s first beer (and most likely not their last) – this time they’re working with Sweden’s Nils Oscar Brewery on an Imperial Pale Lager this time around and are claiming that it will be their most aggressive beer yet.

A Contractual Alias (Escondido, CA) – Remember when you happened upon that first release from the then unknown brewery Stochasticity Project? Remember how stupid you felt when you found out that the whole thing was a hoax orchestrated by Stone to introduce a new line of experimental beers? Well now they’re getting clever again. We recently received a press release from the Arrogant Bastard Brewing Company to showcase the series of Arrogant Bastard beer variations that they shopped-out to a number of non-Stone breweries.

Words To Drink By (Los Angeles, CA) – “Those losing power today still believe that crap and hype can triumph.”

Bob Lefsetz – Music Analyst & Writer

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER – QUICK HITSGrand, Grand, Grand Openings (West Asheville, NC) – New Belgium will be opening its new East Coast brewery in stages next year. In February they will begin pouring their beer he Liquid Center tasting room – a 6000 to 7000 foot venue with indoor and outdoor seating. The company announced last Wednesday that they will start offering public tours in March and hold their official grand opening and 25th Anniversary on August 27th. Got it?

Bed & Breakfasts For Beer Lovers (Everywhere, USA) – A tourist site that caters to B&Bs has picked what they think are the Top B&Bs for Beer Lovers. Factors that determined their choices included things like the lodgings proximity to top-notch beer trails, whether they brewed their own beer (some do!) or if they offered creative beer lovers’ packages.
