Savor 2013 Hits the Big Apple

, Savor 2013 Hits the Big AppleAfter five consecutive years of hosting SAVOR – An American Craft Beer & Food Experience down in Washington, DC, the Brewers Association is bringing its preeminent event to New York City. This year’s SAVOR will be held on June 14th and 15th at the Altman Building and adjoining Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan.

“Part of our mission as a national industry association is to promote small and independent craft brewers and their craft brewed beers to audiences around the country,” said Sam Calagione, chair of the Brewers Association’s Board of Directors. “Moving SAVOR to New York City, the culinary capital of the world, in 2013 is an incredible opportunity to showcase craft beer from a diverse sampling of small U.S. producers who have helped shift the perception of beer from something predictable and homogenized into the dynamic, flavorful, food-friendly beverage it is recognized as today. Craft brewers, beer lovers, and foodies who attend SAVOR contribute to an historic localization of beer and a shift in the culinary arts world.”

For those of you who’ve never experienced a SAVOR, you’re in for a treat because this is a craft beer experience like no other. As the nation’s benchmark beer and food pairing event, SAVOR 2013’s format will remain the same–an intimate and engaging reception, with a menu carefully designed by the Brewers Association’s culinary consultant Adam Dulye, chef/owner of The Monk’s Kettle and The Abbot’s Cellar in San Francisco.

SAVOR 2013 will be bringing together 76 different, small and independent breweries representing every geographic region of the country. As in the past, guests will be served by some of the industry’s biggest names and attendees will have an opportunity to interact with them at private tastings salons. This year’s SAVOR will also be introducing 45 brewers who have never participated in the festival before…so you know it’s going to be exciting. Beers will be tapped from some of America’s most well-known craft brewers (Dogfish Head, Stone, New Belgium, Sierra Nevada) alongside notable “up and comers,” such as New York’s own, The Bronx Brewery and central Virginia’s Devils Backbone.

Tickets will go on sale to the public next Wednesday, April 17. A ticket pre-sale exclusively for members of the American Homebrewers Association and the Brewers Association will take place April 16. But be ready to act because, we promise you, tickets to SAVOR will sell out almost immediately. If you’re not right on this, you will lose your opportunity to be part of one of this country’s most important and unique craft beer events when it debuts this June in New York City.
