, Newbies – New Releases You Want to Look Out For – May 9, 2013Terra Incognita Re-Lands (Kansas City) – Boulevard Brewing Company and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. just announced that Terra Incognita, their first commercial collaboration, will appear on retail shelves in June. The beer was originally brewed in very limited quantities for patrons at last year’s SAVOR, held in Washington DC, and it was so well received that the two companies decided to bring it back. Terra Incognita, or “land unknown,” is a dark brown ale that’s assertively hopped, and is aged – one portion in old wooden wine foudres and another in used whiskey barrels – for nearly three months.

It’s Summer 12-Pack Time (Longmont, CO and Brevard, NC) – With summer just around the corner, we’re beginning to see the return of the ever-more popular craft beer 12-packs – and Oskar Blues Brewery is entering the mix this year. Canundrum is their first-ever 12-pack and features all their hits, including Dale’s Pale Ale, Mama’s Little Yella Pils and Old Chub Scotch. All of these brews are multi-award-winners. Dale’s was named “Top U.S. Pale Ale” by The New York Times. Mama’s Little Yella Pils also won silver and Old Chub Scotch Aleearned bronze at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival.

Odell Brewing will soon release its first of what will be three variety 12-pack collections that they’ll be bringing out in 2013. Montage‘s first 12-pack will feature two brewery flagships: their IPA and 90 Shilling Ale, the summer seasonal St. Lupulin, and a new session brew, Loose Leaf American Session Ale. Loose Leaf was developed on the brewery’s five-barrel pilot system. Odell will release Montage initially just in Colorado in May. The brewery will continue to launch the package in its other markets beginning in June.

Three Summertime Newbies from Widmer (Portland, OR) – Widmer Brothers Brewing has unveiled three limited release beers for summer, and each offers a different take on a traditional beer style. Citra Blonde Summer Brew is their take on a golden ale. Marionberry Hibiscus Gose is their version of a traditional Gose brewed using Oregon-grown Marionberries. The latest in the brewery’s Rotator IPA series, Hopside Down India Pale Lager, is an aggressively hopped cold-fermented lager. The seasonal releases will all be available nationally from now through August.
