Newbies – New Releases to Look Out For – August 15, 2013

So many beers, So little time…With so many craft breweries, releasing so many beers, we thought it might help to provide a weekly update on all the new beers that are hitting the streets…So welcome to this week’s edition of Newbies – your guide to great new craft beer releases!

, Newbies – New Releases to Look Out For – August 15, 2013The Price is Wrong! (Atlanta, GA) -The folks at SweetWater Brewing Co. are unveiling a big prize behind door number #420 – a new release from their infamous Dank Tank series. The Price is Wrong is a classic style Belgian aggressively hopped to bridge two styles together, according to SweetWater’s head brewer Nick Nock. “It’s made with Belgian yeast, which is really exciting for us as brewers because it’s complex, reacting with fermentation temperatures giving off a different flavor and aroma with each degree. Be careful though, this drinkable beer is packing a punch!”

Anniversary Time at Stone (Escondido, CA) – And the folks at Stone brewed up something really special to celebrate it! Stone 17th Anniversary Götterdämmerung IPA is a double IPA, brewed with malts and hops traditionally used in German pilsners. Götterdämmerung IPA is a 9.5% ABV “monstrum” where West Coast IPA sensibilities meet up with German ingredients.

CB Picks its First Pumpkin (Honeyone Falls, NY) – The CB Brewing Company will release their first seasonal pumpkin beer on August 16th and we’re pretty damn excited about it. Harvest Jack Pumpkin Ale will be available any day now in 12 oz. six-packs and on draft.

, Newbies – New Releases to Look Out For – August 15, 2013Winning Batch Released (Placentia, CA) – The winner of The Bruery’s Batch 1000 contest has just become available. Bryeian, created by Brian Pramov & Bryan Keis from Denver, CO, is a 7% ABV hopped-up Cascadian dark ale. Bryeian is currently only available on draft and in bottles at The Bruery Tap Room – so we think it may be time for a little beercation.

, Newbies – New Releases to Look Out For – August 15, 2013Berkshire Cans Steel Rail! (South Deerfield, MA) – Berkshire Brewing Company is pleased to announce the release of its 5.3% ABV flagship Steel Rail Extra Pale Ale in 12 oz. cans beginning next week. This marks the first foray into small format packaging for the 19-year-old brewery and we’re thinking it’s about time.

No Limits Now Has No Limits (Stratford, CT) – Two Roads Brewing has announced that they’re bumping their summer seasonal to a year-round offering. So it’s all good. No Limits Hefeweizen, their classic 5% ABV Bavarian wheat brew, now has no limits.

Firestone Walker Unleashes the Velvet Merkin (Paso Robles, CA) – Firestone Walker Brewing Company will soon be releasing a beer they’ve intriguingly named Velvet Merkin. The Vintage 2013 Merkin, an 8.5% ABV oatmeal stout aged for a year in retired bourbon barrels, is the first barrel-aged vintage beer that Firestone Walker has released with an alcohol level under 10% ABV! This is a very limited release – the 2013 Merkin is limited to 3,500 cases of 22 oz. bottles and it’s getting out there now – so you know what to do.
