, Newbies – New Releases to Look Out For – April 11, 2013Three Newbies from The Windy City (Chicago, IL) – Just got off the phone with Half Acre Beer Company’s Gabriel Magliaro, and he was all about three new releases that have just become available. Hot Topic Pale Ale is an island-themed Pale brewed with Motueka hops and raw coconut. Hot Topic is one of their “one-off” brews (which means it’s one and done, unless they brew it again) and it’s available on draft and for growler fills at their taproom. Akari Shogun is a 5.5% ABV American wheat beer flashed with Motueka hops. The results are a lemon-lime wheat concoction that’s meant to battle hard. Shogun is available on draft at the Half Acre Tap Room and in 16oz cans. Pony Pilsner is their 5.75% ABV take on the classic Pilsner and it’s currently available on draft at the brewery’s taproom as well, with 16oz cans hitting the streets tomorrow (4/12).

The Beast is Back (Paso Robles, CA) – Firestone Walker Brewing Company is set to release the 2013 vintage of Parabola, their limited-edition Oatmeal Stout, on April 15. The 2013 vintage marks the fourth release of this stout, which is part of Firestone Walker’s Proprietor’s Reserve Series. According to Brewmaster Matt Brynildson, the recipe remains the same except for one twist -this year’s Parabola features batches aged in barrels from Four Roses Distillery in Kentucky. The 2013 allocation is limited to 3,500 cases of 22oz bottles, so you know what to do!

, Newbies – New Releases to Look Out For – April 11, 2013New Belgium Rolls Out its New Seasonal (Ft Collins, CO) – “Rolle Bolle” is the name of a Belgian backyard bowling competition – and it’s also the name of New Belgium Brewing’s newest summer seasonal, which is hitting the shelves now. Rolle Bolle Ale is brewed with monk fruit and soursop. It pours blonde and offers both earthy tones and hints of tartness thanks to the Cascade and Centennial hops that are used. “Rolle Bolle is a session beer that will surely make its way into backyards and festivals all season long,” said New Belgium Assistant Brewmaster Grady Hull. Rolle Bolle is 5.2% ABV, and is available in 12oz bottles and on draft in most New Belgium markets.
