So many beers, So little time… We’ve been deluged with a multitude of Pumpkin beer releases lately and now they’re fighting for shelf space with Winter Ales. We’ve got that battle for you – and we’ve some new offerings from Deschutes and Silver City Brewing that you’ll need to run down.

Brewed with winter’s onset in mind, this cold-weather warmer is out there now and will be through December.

What Are They Smoking? (Escondido, CA) – Stone has just released another take on their classic Smoked Porter and this one’s perfect for the fall. Stone Smoked Porter w/Chocolate & Orange Peel is a 5.9% ABV Smoked Porter with orange peel added during post-fermentation to bring about a citrusy aroma and tangy flavor. The cocoa flavors come from the dark malts and the addition of chocolate from Los Angeles-based ChocoVivo. One of this year’s earliest cold-weather releases actually shipped in September -it just seemed wrong to showcase it then – but it would be just as wrong to not bring it to your attention now. Deschutes’ Jubelale is their 6.7% Winter Ale that pours deep garnet and pairs perfectly with holiday celebrations. It’s been out there for a while now so grab one if you’ve been waiting.

Winterhook at 30 (Seattle, WA) – Redhook has been brewing their popular winter seasonal for going on three decades now and this year marks thirty for Winterhook Ale. Like its predecessors, Winterhook #30 is dark and rich in color. Its Pale and Munich malts combine with Cascade, Centennial, and Nugget hops to deliver a 6% ABV winter seasonal that is bright, warm, and smooth.
