Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out For

So many beers, So little time…With craft beer’s biggest names all in Denver for this year’s GABF, there are a multitude of never-seen-before beers making prime-time debuts. We’ll have all that for you plus we’ve some updates on other brilliant new releases from Perennial Artisan Ales and New Belgium Brewing that you’ll want to get your sweaty little hands on.

, Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out ForJewbalation Ensues at the 2014 GABF (Denver, CO) – Shmaltz Brewing Company is launching its special Anniversary brew all over the “Mile High City” this week – as if you needed another reason to be there! It’s become a tradition for the brewery to release the award-winning, limited-edition brew at the GABF – so why stop now? This year’s offering features a brand new (although somewhat sketchy) beer category that they call “Black Session Barleywine.” Brewed with 18 malts, 18 hops, and weighing in at a delightfully “sessionable” 12.4% ABV, Jewbelation 18 is being poured tonight at the GABF.

Elevated Mojo at the GABF (Denver, CO) – Elevation Beer Company is debuting a special collaboration beer that they brewed along with Elite Brands, Freshcraft, and Wyoming Whiskey. Frontier Mo’Joe is a whiskey barrel-aged version of Little Mo’ Porter kissed with dark roast coffee during the aging process, and they’ve brewed it especially for the GABF. And if you’re already in Denver, you can try it today at Freshcraft from 3-7 p.m.

Bringing Back Classics (Portland, OR) – Widmer Brothers Brewing has just re-released two important beers in the brewery’s three-decade history as part of their 30 Beers for 30 Years Series… Both beers are brewed to their exact recipe and specifications from their original year of release at Widmer Brothers’ 10-barrel pilot brewery.

, Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out ForBrewed using milk sugar, wheat, and black malt to create a smooth creamy mouthfeel, the 6.1% ABV Widmer’s Snow Plow Stout won a GABF Gold Medal in 2004. To this day, it is still one of the most requested beers for Widmer Brothers to resurrect.

Widmer’s Old Embalmer Barleywine was first created in 2000 by longtime Widmer Brothers’ brewer, Doug Rehberg. This is an aggressive beast of a beer that used a ton of specialty malt to ensure its dark richness and clocks in at an unforgiving 10.2% ABV.

Salt of the Earth (Ft. Collins, CO) – New Belgium Brewing and Perennial Artisan Ales have created a collaboration stout that’s an almost perfect pairing of chocolate and beer. This latest addition to New Belgium’s Lips of Faith Series, Salted Belgian Chocolate Stout combines roasted barley and caramel malts to create a stout with a dark pour and tan head atop hints of tobacco and dried fruit. This special-edition fall weather collaborative brew is available now in 22 oz. bottles and on draft – so you know what to do.
