Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out For

So many beers, So little time…Saint Arnold Brewing has allowed one of their award-winning flagship beers to go to the dogs! We’ve that shocking story for you plus other cool new releases from Williamsburg Alewerks and 21st Amendment and Elysian Brewing that you’ll want to grab soon.

, Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out ForPet Projects (Houston, TX) – Saint Arnold’s has a new pet project and they’ll be renaming one of their popular flagships as part of it. More than 19 years after its introduction, Saint Arnold Brown Ale will become Saint Arnold Ale Wagger, with a portion of proceeds earmarked to support animal welfare programs. Recognized among the best brown ales in the world, Ale Wagger is a 5.3% ABV deep copper brown ale with a touch of sweetness and a light hop flavor.

Small Wonder (Williamsburg, VA) – This beer was recommended to us by Greg Engert – the man who curated all the beers featured at last weekend’s brilliant Snallygaster festival in DC – and it was an awesome suggestion on his part. Shorty Time IPA is a session India Pale Ale brewed by AleWerks Brewing Company. It clocks in at a meager 4.8% ABV and delivers huge. It’s also one of the best session IPAs that we’ve sampled this year.

, Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out ForBrewery Incest? (Kansas City, MO) – Boulevard and Brewery Ommegang are now part of the Duvel Moortgat international family and they’ve decided to throw caution to the wind and enter into what can only beseen as an incestuous collaboration together! Part of Boulevard’s vaunted Smokestack Series, Collaboration No. 4 happened when Ommegang’s brewmaster Phil Leinhart traveled to Kansas City to brew alongside Boulevard’s Steven Pauwels. Their goal was to create a Spiced Saison using two different signature yeast strains. After the initial brewing, the wort was transferred into two fermentation vessels. Boulevard’s primary Belgian yeast strain was added to one, and the other tank received Ommegang’s house yeast strain. The two batches were then blended during the filtration process, resulting in Collaboration No. 4. Look for this incestuous brew to begin rolling out nationally, on draft and in bottles, the third week in September.

, Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out ForTwo Shades of Pumpkin (San Francisco, CA / Seattle, WA) – One’s a Belgian-style Tripel, the other’s a Baltic-style Porter and they’re both 8.2% ABV collaborations brewed with pumpkin and spices. He Said He Said is the name of this brilliant pumpkin beer collaboration project from Shaun O’Sullivan at 21st Amendment and Dick Cantwell at Elysian Brewing. Take it from us – these are pumpkin beers for craft beer lovers who think they don’t like pumpkin beers.

Cave Dweller (San Jose, CA) – With Oktoberfest season upon us, it’s clearly Märzen time and Gordon Biersch does that style justice. Historically this beer was brewed in March and stored in caves (before refrigeration) to be enjoyed throughout the summer and into the harvest season. Gordon Biersch Märzen is a 5.8% ABV Auburn Lager that’s an honest take on the European tradition.
