Newbies – New Releases You Want to Look Out For

So many beers, So little time… Sometimes a brew going south is not the end of the story – sometimes it’s just the beginning – and that’s exactly what happened at a prominent Utah-based brewery. We’ve that story for you and other cool new releases from Terrapin Beer and Stone Brewing that you’ll want to chase down!

, Newbies – New Releases You Want to Look Out ForDream Time Big-Time (Utica, NY) — F.X. Matt, the brewer of Saranac, is introducing a new, single-batch brew – the latest addition to theirSaranac High Peaks Series.Saranac Clouded Dream is a 7.4% ABV hybrid IPA/Belgian White Ale that’s a “Citra hop-infused” amped-up version of their classic White IPA. This limited-edition “dream brew” is available now in 4-packs and on draft while supplies last – so don’t be caught napping.

, Newbies – New Releases You Want to Look Out ForGeeking Out Without Greg Koch (Escondido, CA) – Stone’s got a special limited market release that you’ll want to get your sweaty little hands on. Last year’s popular Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout was the bastard love child of Drew CurtisWil Wharton, and Stone’s own Greg Koch. Most of the cast members return to this geek collaboration; however, with Koch out on sabbatical, Curtis called in longtime friend and multitalented actress, comedian, podcaster, and homebrewer Aisha Tyler to help brew the slightly revamped (and renamed) second iteration. Stone w00tstout 2.0 remains a massive 13%+ ABV Imperial Stout monster that is now available in 22 oz. bottles and kegs in Southern California, as well as Curtis’ home state of Kentucky. To give this year’s special-edition bottle a pristine flair, famed comic artist and co-creator of the “Watchmen” series Dave Gibbons was commissioned to design the label.

A Beautiful Disaster (Salt Lake City, UT) – A disaster struck the Epic Brewing Company late last year when a batch of one of their GABF silver medal-winning fruit beers, Brainless on Peaches, went south on them during the barrel-aging process. In April, they pulled down several barrels that had been put up in December 2013 and the tasting panel came back with these nightmarish notes prohibiting the beer from blending. But what started as an “off-flavor” mellowed and became the inspiration for their new Live Sour, “Wild” Brainless on Peaches, and they are releasing approximately 60 ¼ barrel kegs of beer into the market and in their Denver taproom. Ironically due to Utah’s laws and regulations protecting its good citizens from wild, sour, strong beer, this beer will not be offered in Epic’s home state, Utah.

, Newbies – New Releases You Want to Look Out ForA Very Cool Box Set (Athens, GA) – Terrapin Beer is the latest brewer to release a summertime variety pack, which increasingly are becoming a signature marketing move for many of the country’s most creative breweries. The Box Set Variety 12-Pack includes three of their year-round selections, Hopsecutioner, Terrapin Rye, and Liquid Bliss, a chocolate peanut butter porter that was introduced in 2012 as part of their Side Project Series. But the box set’s biggest highlight might be the return of the 7.5% ABV Capt’n Krunkles Black India Pale Ale, which has never been released in a 12 oz. bottle.
