Deschutes Not the Stoic is a 12% ABV Belgian-styled Quad aged and sequestered in Rye Whiskey and Pinot Noir barrels, resulting in a complex flavor that is an entirely different take on the original “The Stoic” that was released in 2011.

The Kimmie, the Yink, and the Holy Gose Coming (Boonville, CA) – The Anderson Valley Brewing Company has an amazingly named release coming out and you should chase it down for its name alone. The Kimmie, the Yink, and the Holy Gose Aleis a tart golden 4.2% ABV German Gose ale with a tight creamy head that gives way to earthy wood undertones.

Victory Summer Love Ale is their popular 5.2% ABV Golden Blonde that’s brewed with European hops and Brandywine River water. And it’s back for the fourth year in a row – so they must be doing something right.

, Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out For2014 Lil Opal Debuts this Weekend (Buellton, CA) – Firestone Walker has a big-deal Brett’d Barrel-Aged Saison set for a limited bottle release this Saturday, April 19. The brewery’s Barrelworks facility in Buellton will be releasing their 2014 Lil Opal – a Saison Farmhouse Ale that was aged for 14 months in French and American oak barrels and is being released in 375ml bottles for the first time ever.

Two Times as Good (Houston, TX) – For the second time in a row, one of Saint Arnold Brewing Company’s most popular beers has won a World Beer Cup award. Although Saint Arnold Santo is considered by the brewery to be a true Kölsch, it earned its second consecutive medal in the American-Style Dark Lager category, this time taking Silver, at the World Beer Cup ceremony held in Denver last Friday. Originally released in 2011, Santo has quickly become one of Saint Arnold’s top-selling beers. Despite its dark color, Santo maintains the light-bodied and floral characteristics of a true Kölsch, even though it has a slightly deeper malt flavor. Saint Arnold uses the same special Kölsch yeast that is used in Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower Beer and it’s available now in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft.
