Stand Up For Your Rights (Boulder, CO) – Going into the ninth release of the Avery Brewing and Russian River Brewing’s Collaboration Not Litigation Ale, we are once again reminded of how collaboration can not only make the bonds between brewers stronger but also set a high bar for quality. This Belgian Strong Ale, usually clocking in just under 9% ABV, is a beautiful example or the style as well as the craft beer community ethos in America today.
Experimentale (Bend, OR) – We’ve grown accustomed to the majesty of Deschutes Brewing’s Imperial IPA, popping out eyes with it’s gorgeous dark-orange color and huge Centennial & Cascade hop stance. It also reminds us that our fearless leader is almost done throwing down with the locals in London. We’ll stick with the Henge on this side of the pond, for now. 9.5% ABV, 90 IBU.
O Yes They Did! (Athens, OH) – Those lucky enough to get a taste of this small college town brewery’s hidden gem, get ready for one of their best yet. Jackie-O’s Pub and Brewery just released their Vanilla & Coffee Bean Dark Apparition 375ml bottles and we’re pretty stoked about it. Weighing in at 10.5% ABV, this Russian Imperial Stout will blow your mind, so find it while you can!
We Jest You Not (Austin, TX) – Most brewers who bust out seasonal releases, focus on the time of release, not the ingredients traditionally available at the time of brewing. That’s where Jester King‘s Autumnal Dichotomous comes in: a wheat and squash beer seasoned with long pepper and sage, weighing in at a sessionable 4.9% ABV. It’s all we’ve come to expect of Texas’ own experimental brew lab, breaking the norm whenever possible.
Tickle Your Fickle Bone (Ardmore, PA) – A fresh new Gose is on the market and it’s got us drooling. Tired Hands Brewing has been pouring their Fickle Constitution for a few weeks now and the response to this sour red winter wheat ale, spiced with sea salt and coriander, has been impressive. Coming in on the lighter side, true to the style at 3.75% ABV, you may be hard pressed to find it.
